What We Liked about The Margaritaville Resort Orlando

There are a number of things to like about the Margaritaville Resort Orlando.  Following are some of the highlights:

  • Excellent amenities and dining options all on-site
  • Great island vibe and theming
  • Very large room sizes
  • Ownership opportunities with the cottages and villas
  • Convenient to The Walt Disney World Resort
  • Additional shopping, dining and the Island H20 Live! water park all area within walking distance

What We Didn’t Like at The Margaritaville Resort Orlando:

There are a few things about the Margaritaville Resort we do not like which include:

  • Traffic, Traffic, Traffic (there is heavy traffic along US Highway 192, World Drive and Interstate 4 which adds considerably to travel time).
  • $36 per day resort fee (just add it into the rate so there are no surprises)
  • Exterior corridor hotel (we are not a fan of this design)
  • Pretty far from the Orlando International Airport

One thing to note during our stay was that the front desk gave us the wrong room number at check-in and we almost walked into another guest’s room.  It was an honest mistake but thought it should be mentioned.

What We Think The Margaritaville Resort Orlando is Perfect For:

The Margaritaville Resort Orlando is really an amazing property and we find that it is perfect for:

  • Large families needing multiple bedrooms (suites and cottages)
  • Longer term vacations (cottages)
  • Weekend trips for relaxing (wonderful pool area, dining and on-site spa)
  • Family reunions, events and gatherings

Our Thoughts

This was our first time at the Margaritaville Resort Orlando but it will not be our last.  The immediate area has seen a number of new hotels, shopping venues and vacation housing developments open over the past 5 years so the area is bustling.

The resort is definitely the perfect place to relax and for all practical purposes, you will not need to leave the immediate area (unless of course you want to).  There is plenty to do, great dining and an amazing water park just outside the front door.

However, if you are planning on spending all day at Walt Disney World or any other of the Orlando area theme parks, we feel that there are better options that would be less expensive in price and more convenient to the theme park gates.
