The hotel is close to a number of shopping, dining and entertainment venues including the Broward Mall, the Sawgrass Mills Mall and the FLA Live Arena. There are a number of business parks as well as the main campus of Nova Southeastern University just minutes away.
Some of the closest public beaches to the hotel include the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park / Dania Beach Pier and the world famous Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is formerly known as the John U. Lloyd Beach State Park and is a beachside oasis just south of Port Everglades. This park is if open from 8:00 AM to sunset and costs $6.00 per vehicle for entry. There are nature trails and local boaters often “beach” themselves at the park. It is also well liked for swimming, fishing, hiking, bicycling and picnicking.
Fort Lauderdale beach is one of the most popular beaches not only in South Florida but also throughout the State of Florida. In fact, US News & World Report ranked Fort Lauderdale beach as #1 in Best Things To Do in Fort Lauderdale. Great places to visit include the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens and the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. And if you get thirsty, visit the Elbo Room Beach Bar which was originally founded in 1938. This Florida landmark was featured in the 1060 movie Where the Boys Are and is located at the corner of Las Olas Boulevard and A1A.
The nearest major international airport is the Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport. It will take about 20 to 30 minutes to get to the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West from the airport.
Amenities and Dining Options
The Renaissance Fort Lauderdale-Plantation is a full-service hotel located in a suburban setting. While this hotel may not have the level of amenities that many “resort” properties feature, what they offer is more than acceptable for a hotel at this price point.
The main amenity is a fair-sized heated outdoor pool and large patio deck. The patio deck has ample seating and there is a covered patio area just adjacent to the pool. In addition to the pool, the hotel features a modern fitness center that includes resistance training equipment as well as cardiovascular equipment.
An additional amenity which is reserved for certain Marriott Bonvoy is the concierge lounge which is located on the top floor of the hotel. The lounge was not open during the time of our visit but it was indicated to offer an array of drinks and snacks throughout the day. There is also a breakfast offered as well as a variety of hot and cold appetizers during evening hours.
Dining options are limited to Bin 595 Eclectic Grille & Wine Bar which is located just off the hotel lobby. This venue is open for both breakfast and dinner service.
A full American breakfast buffet is offered for $15.00 per person as well as a continental breakfast which is offered for $8.50 per person. Dinner service starts in the early evening hours.
There is also a marketplace next to the front desk which sells drinks and snacks.
