Single Rider Lines at Walt Disney World

One of the best ways to save time during your next visit to the Walt Disney World theme parks is to utilize the Single Rider Lines which are offered on several of the resorts most popular rides.  This Disney “secret” is hidden in plain sight but typically missed but most park visitors.

A single rider line is a separate queue (from the stand by or Lightning Lane queues) where those visitors who wish to ride alone will be able to bypass the regular line and in most cases, get on the attraction quicker.  Cast members use the individual riders to fill vacant seats in a ride vehicle as not all traveling parties match the number of seats available on a ride vehicle.

While every single person in your group can use the single rider line, it’s highly likely that those in your traveling party will be broken up and put onto different ride vehicles.  It should also be noted that guests using the single rider queue will not get the complete experience of the traditional ride queue.

Single Rider Lines at Walt Disney World

As of the summer 2023, there are just four attractions at Walt Disney World that offer a single rider line.  All four of these lines are just adjacent to the stand by queue entrances.

  • Test Track (EPCOT)
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
  • Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)

Test Track

Located at EPCOT in World Discovery, Test Track is one of our favorite rides in any park at The Walt Disney World Resort.  The single rider entrance is just to the left of the stand by queue entrance.

While the single rider queue bypasses a number of the concept vehicles in the traditional queue, there are “Design Studio” terminals offered for those riders wishing to create their own vehicle designs.

During our last visit to Epcot in June 2023, our wait time when using the single rider queue was less than 15 minutes (the stand by queue showed a wait time of 50 minutes).  It also worked out that our two person traveling party was also able site together on the same ride vehicle.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Located Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is an exciting motion simulator ride that takes guests for a missions on the Millennium Falcon.   The single rider line entrance is just to the left of the entrance to the stand by queue.

The single rider queue bypasses a large part of the theming of the ride (including an interaction with Hondo) but riders still get to see the staging area which is a mockup of the interior of the Millennium Falcon.

Typically the single riders will be in the last two seats, playing the part of “engineer”.

During our last visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in July 2023, our wait time when using the single rider queue was less than 15 minutes (the stand by queue showed a wait time of 40 minutes).

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Also located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is one of the most exciting attractions at Walt Disney World and is the only ride to have an inversion (it goes upside down).  The single rider line entrance is on the right side to the main entrance to the Lightning Lane queue.

During our last visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in July 2023, our wait time when using the single rider queue was less than 25 minutes (the stand by queue showed a wait time of 75 minutes).

Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

Located in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is one of the most expensive attractions at Walt Disney World.  The single rider line entrance is on the right side to the main queue entrance.

This queue is a little more hidden than the others but still highly visible if you are looking for it.

During our most recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in July 2023, our wait time when using the single rider queue was less than 10 minutes (approximately 20 people) while the stand by queue showed a wait time of 50 minutes.
