Marriott’s Imperial Palms and Marriott’s Royal Palms area vacation club resorts that are located just outside of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.  While these properties is a timeshare property / vacation club, Marriott also offers their rooms on a nightly basis just like any typical hotel. 

Surrounded by the Hawk’s Landing Golf Course, these resorts feature two-bedrooms villas (Royal Palms) and three-bedroom (Imperial Palms) Villas.  The villas include a fully equipped kitchen, living / dining area and a screened patio.  Additional, the resort shares amenities and dining options with the adjacent Marriott’s Sabal Palms as well as the 2,008 room Marriott Orlando World Center.

About Marriott’s Imperial Palms and Royal Palms

Marriott’s Imperial Palms and Marriott’s Royal Palms has an excellent location in the Orlando tourist district within minutes of the Walt Disney World Resort.  This property is well situated to access all the Orlando area theme parks, the International Drive tourist district and several of Orlando’s major shopping including the Orlando Premium Outlets.

It will take approximately 25 minutes to get to Marriott’s Sabal Palms from the Orlando International Airport and about 15 minutes to get to the Orange County Convention Center.  The Orlando area theme parks are also a short distance to the hotel and per Google Maps, travel time is as follows (non-peak hours):

  • The Magic Kingdom Park: approximately 15 minutes.
  • EPCOT: approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Disney Springs: approximately 10 minutes.
  • Universal Orlando approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  • SeaWorld Orlando: approximately 15 minutes.
  • Downtown Orlando: approximately 30 to 35 minutes.

There are several restaurants and retail shops just outside the grounds of the resort along Apopka Vineland Road.  Unfortunately due to the location of the resort, guests are not easily able to walk to any of these properties.  For a major grocery store, there is a Publix Supermarket and a Wal-Mart Supercenter within two miles along Apopka Vineland Road.

Amenities

Amenities at Marriott’s Imperial Palms / R0yal Palms are fairly good based on the small size of the resort. There is a resort style pool with hot tubs located behind adjacent the lobby building.  There is also a multi-function sports court that features tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. 

The two resorts share a fully equipped fitness center that is located with the lobby building.  Guests are also free to use the pool at the adjacent Marriott’s Sabal Palms.

In addition, with the exception of the River Falls Water Park, guests have access to the amenities of the adjacent Marriott Orlando World Center.

Entertainment

Along with Marriott’s Sabal Palms, there are a number of organized activities that are held throughout the week.  During our most recent stay in July 2023, there were fitness classes on weekdays and live music on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The adjacent Marriott Orlando World Center also offers a number of daily family activities which guests can participate in.   

Dining Options

With the exception of a lobby marketplace, there are no food & beverage options on site at Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms. However, there are full kitchen in the villas and guests have access to barbecue grills throughout the property for grilling.  There are also a number of great restaurants and dining options at the adjacent Marriott Orlando World Center hotel

It should be noted that Disney Springs is less than 10 minutes from the resort and features over 50 different food & beverages options ranging from table service restaurants, lounges, quick service dining venues and individual kiosks.

Rooms and Rates

Marriott’s Royal Palms features two-bedroom villas that range in size from 1,250 square feet.  Villas include a king bed in the master bedroom that includes a large bathroom with double sinks and stand up rain shower.  The second bedroom features a double beds & a twin bed with direct access to the second bathroom.  Flat panel televisions are included in both bedrooms.

Marriott’s Imperial Palms features three-bedroom villas that range in size from 1,631 square feet.  Villas include a king bed in the master bedroom, a second bedroom with one queen bed and a third-bedroom with two twin beds.  Flat panel televisions are included in all bedrooms.

The villas include a large living area with sofa, flat panel television, dining room table that seats six guests, fully equipped kitchen, washer / dryer and a screened patio with table and lounge chair.  Overall we considered the living area very spacious and easily able to accommodate a large family.

Like most resorts in the greater Orlando area, rates at Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms are highly seasonal and we have found that rates and availability do vary quite considerably throughout the year.  The rates shown below are the best available rate offered at this property.  Please note that nightly rates can change at any time.

Marriott Orlando World Center

Immediately adjacent to the resort is the massive Marriott Orlando World Center hotel.  This massive 2,008-room resort is one of the premier off site hotels near the Walt Disney World Resort and features a massive lagoon pool with water slides, a separate water park with lazy river, a full service spa, fully equipped fitness center with fitness classes, mini-golf course, extensive conference center, a kids club, 18-hole on-site golf course.  

In addition to all the amazing amenities, the hotel offers a number of different food and beverage options which range from grab-and-go to upscale dining.  These dining venues include:

  • Mikado Japanese Steakhouse
  • High Velocity
  • Falls Pool Bar & Grill

What we liked about Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms

There are many different things to like at Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms.  Following are some of the highlights which we liked most:

  • Large villas with a full kitchen and spacious living area
  • Access to the amenities of the Marriott Orlando World Center
  • Good location to the theme parks and local area attractions
  • Represents a good value for the price

What we didn’t like about Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms

There were a few things not to like when staying at the Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms.

  • Older property and the buildings are starting to show their age with respect to design and style
  • There was no transportation to the Orlando area theme parks
  • Lack of an immediate on-site dining option
  • Guests had to drive along the rear of the Marriott Orlando World Center hotel to get to the property (loading docks, staff parking, construction areas, etc.)

What we think Marriott’s Imperial Palms / Royal Palms is perfect for:

These timeshare resorts/hotels are perfect for a number of vacationers visiting the Orlando area for and is perfect for:

  • Long term stays (due to full kitchens and good sized rooms).
  • Larger families needing multiple bedrooms.
  • Visitors to Walt Disney World
  • Long term business travelers (conventions at the Marriott Orlando World Center or Disney)
  • Florida weekend staycations

Our Thoughts

Endless Summer Florida has been to many different economy, moderate and luxury hotels in the in the Orlando tourist area and have stayed at a number of vacation club properties throughout the area.  As result, we feel that Marriott’s Sabal Palms / Royal Palms represents a very good value for the money as compared to other similar type properties throughout Central Florida.

The resort is very well located, self contained and has all the features / activities for a very enjoyable Florida vacation.
