In this article we are going to give you a list of the best hotels for kids near the Walt Disney World Resort.  This list consists of non-Disney hotel properties that are mostly located off-site.  Additionally, timeshares and vacation club communities have been excluded as our list focused on traditional hotels & resorts.

Part of our process of determining if the hotel was good for families children included evaluating the amenities like the pools & water features, kid friendly dining options and unique theming that appeals to kids of differing ages.  The Endless Summer family has visited each of these hotel properties and can say great for kids of all ages.

Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites – Waterpark

The Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites – Waterpark is located just a mile from the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Formerly the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, this all suite property consists of 777 rooms including one-, two- and three-bedroom family suites.

Amenities and hotel features are extensive include a large lagoon pool with extensive water park, a separate splash pad, a second outdoor pool, complimentary shuttle service to Walt Disney World, a nine-hold miniature golf course, laser room, arcade, movie theater and a large entertainment room that features live shows.

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts

While the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts are located in the Epcot Resorts area and are the only hotel properties on our list situated on-site at Disney World.  Surprisingly, these amazing resorts are not owned by the Disney Company but in a partnership between Tishman Realty & MetLife and operated by the Marriott hotel company.

The Dolphin and Swan originally opened in 1990 and in 2017, completed a three-year, $140 million renovation of more than 2,000 rooms as well the lobby, common areas and meeting space.  The resorts feature five heated pools including a resort style grotto pool with waterfalls and a water slide, a white sandy beach with entertainment & activities, children playground, paddle boat rentals and a kids club. There are also a number of kid friendly dining options including The Fountain (50’s diner) and Picabu.

Additionally, these two amazing resort hotels feature enjoy a number of the benefits that are offered to guests staying at Disney owned properties.  Both are within walking distance to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Orlando World Center Marriott

The Marriott Orlando World Center is one of the premier off site hotels near the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.  This spectacular property originally opened in 1986 and consists of 2,008 rooms including 121 suites.

This hotel features are immense and include a massive lagoon pool, a separate water park with lazy river, full service spa with private spa pool, extensive conference facilities, kids club and an 18-hotel golf course.  There are nine individual food & beverage options at the property which range from grab & go to fine dining.

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa

The Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa is an extended stay condo-hotel property that is a very short distance to the Walt Disney World theme parks. 

This 475-room property was originally constructed in 2006 – 2007 with each unit featuring a fully-equipped kitchen and living area.  Amenities include two outdoor pools, an 24-hours fitness center with strength training and cardiovascular equipment, Disney parks shuttle, game room, children’s playground and an on-site spa.

The Grove Resort & Water Park

The Grove Resort & Water Park is located approximately five (5) miles south of Walt Disney World and is perfect for those looking for a place to stay that is larger than a traditional hotel room.  The resort features two-and three-bedroom suites that include full kitchens and living areas.

Amenities include a resort pool and the Surfari Water Park.  The water park features a zero-entry pool, 695-foot bazy river, multi-story water slide tower, Flowrider® Double Surf Simulator and a water playground area.

JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes

The Signia by Hilton Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek is part of the Bonnet Creek resort and is one of the finest hotels near the Walt Disney World Resort.  Originally opened in 2009 as a traditional Hilton Hotel (not a Signia), this amazing resort hotel consists of 18-floors of 1,001 well-appointed rooms & suites.

Margaritaville Resort Orlando

The Margaritaville Resort Orlando is a 300-acre high-end resort development that features 184 guest rooms & suites at the Margaritaville Resort Orlando hotel as well as the Margaritaville Cottages which are individually-owned homes that are rented like hotel rooms.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is one of the best Hyatt brand hotels within the State of Florida and is located just outside of the Disney Springs area of the Walt Disney World Resort.  This 779-room resort was originally constructed in 1982 and was the area first Five-Star and Five-Diamond resort.
