Pet Friendly On-Site Hotels at Walt Disney World


Are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and looking for a pet-friendly hotel to accommodate your furry friend? As of August 2023, guests will find that there area total of four on-site resort hotels at The Walt Disney World Resort that are pet-friendly.

Currently the only type of animal permitted are dogs that are properly vaccinated.  Upon check-in guests are provided “Pluto’s Welcome Kit” which includes a door hanger that indicates that your pet is currently within the room. 

A maximum of two dogs per room are allowed and they must be leashed in all public areas including the hotel corridors and outdoor areas. It should be noted that pets, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted in the theme parks, restaurants pools and recreational areas.  Each individual resort hotel has their own policies including pet relief areas and cleaning fees.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is one of Disney’s “Value” category resort hotels, providing an array of amenities at a fairly affordable price.  The resort originally opened in May 2012 and features 984 rooms and 1,120 family suites that are grouped into four individual sections themed with popular Disney animated movies: Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

A $50.00 per night cleaning fee is assessed to guests staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.  Pets are only allowed in select buildings and there are four pet-relief areas near buildings #2, #5, #6 and #8.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is one of the “Moderate” on-site resorts at Walt Disney World.  This hotel originally opened in 1992 as Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort and features more than 2,000 guests rooms ranging from standard rooms to larger suites.

The resort is themed after a rural Louisiana bayou town and shares amenities and dining venues with the adjacent Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

A $50.00 per night cleaning fee is assessed to guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.  Pets are only allowed in select buildings and there are four pet-relief areas near buildings #15, #24, #80 and #95.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is one of Disney’s “Deluxe Resort” category hotels, providing an extensive array of amenities and a premium experience.  The 630-room resort is located directly on Disney’s Boardwalk in the heart of the EPCOT Resorts area.  The property is within walking distance to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios but guests will find water taxi transportation right outside along Crescent Lake.

A $75.00 per night cleaning fee is assessed to guests staying at Disney’s Yacht Club and pets are only allowed in select areas of the resort. There is a pet relief area near the leisure pool and tennis courts.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort

Set within 750-acres of dense forest, The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort are one of the more unique places to stay when visiting Walt Disney World.  The cabins are fairly rustic in nature and include a full kitchen, private patio and spacious living area.  Guests will enjoy all the amenities of the resort including the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, outdoor activities, on-site dining options and transportation to the theme parks including water taxi service to the Magic Kingdom.

A $50.00 per night cleaning fee is assessed to guests staying in the Cabins at Fort Wilderness and all areas of the cabins and campsites are considered pet-friendly.  Guests can also make sure of the Waggin’ Trails Dog Park which is near the northern end of the property.

Doggie Day Care at Walt Disney World

In addition to the pet-friendly resort hotels on-site at Walt Disney World, visitors can will find that overnight boarding and daycare options are available.  Located at 2510 Bonnet Creek Parkway just across from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is the Best Friends Pet Hotel.

Best Friends Pet Hotel is open daily one hour before Disney World theme park opening and until one hour after theme park closings.  Services include overnight boarding, daycare, doggy cay camp and grooming.  Direct transportation to the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s yacht Club Resort is available.
