The Walt Disney World Swan

The Walt Disney World Swan is one the closest non-Disney hotels to the Walt Disney World Resort.  Located within Walt Disney World in the Epcot Resorts Area, the 458-room Swan is within walking distance to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The Swan, along with the adjacent Walt Disney World Dolphin, are the best pedestrian friendly non-Disney hotels in all of the Walt Disney World Resort. 

From the Walt Disney World Swan, the distance to the individual Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs are as follows (per GoogleMaps):

  • Epcot: 0.6 miles (14 minute walk)

The Walt Disney World Swan shares amenities with it’s sister hotel, the adjacent Walt Disney World Dolphin.  Between the two hotels there are five heated pools including a resort style grotto pool with waterslide, a spring pool, two lap pools, a kid pool, four jacuzzi tubs and two poolside restaurants.  

With it’s location in the Epcot Resorts Area right next to Disney’s Boardwalk, the Swan enjoys one of the best locations of any hotel within the Walt Disney World Resort.  There is complimentary water taxi transportation to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studio; or if you prefer, walking paths to both parks.  In addition to the water taxi service, there is free bus transportation to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney Springs.

The Walt Disney World Dolphin

Immediately adjacent to the Swan is the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel.  Also located within the Epcot Resort Area next to Disney’s Board, Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this 1,514 room property is one the best pedestrian friendly non-Disney hotels in all of the Walt Disney World Resort (along with the Swan).

The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

Scheduled to open in the Summer of 2021, The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve is the newest hotel to open in the Epcot Resort Area at Walt Disney World.  This amazing new property is next to the existing Dolphin and Swan hotels and is a boutique hotel consisting of 349 guests rooms including 149 suites in a 15 floor tower building.

From the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, the distance to the individual Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs are as follows (per GoogleMaps):

  • Epcot: 0.7 miles (14 minute walk)

Although not yet opened by the time of this article, it is anticipated that guests of the Swan Reserve will be allowed access to the resort amenities of the Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan hotels and include Disney theme park transportation.  The one amenity that is unique to the Swan Reserve will be the rooftop area called “Vue” which will be used for event space.

It has been announced that the Grand Opening of the Swan Reserve will take place in July with hotel reservations available from September 1, 2021.

The JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek

The JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek is located right next to Walt Disney World within the Bonnet Creek Resort.  This 16 story, 516 room resort is newest hotel in the Bonnet Creek Resort have just opened in the summer 2020.

The Orlando World Center Marriott

Located just on the east side of Interstate 4, slightly outside the grounds to the Walt Disney World Resort is The Orlando World Center Marriott.  This massive 2,008 room resort originally opened in 1986 and at the time was one of the largest hotels in Florida.

The Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center

The  Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is one our favorite hotels in the greater Orlando area.  The Gaylord is a 1,406-room resort that is also just outside of the Walt Disney World Resort, along the Osceola Parkway on the east side of Interstate 4.

The Gaylord is just finishing a $158 million expansion which includes 302 additional guest rooms, 90,000 square feet of event space, a 12,000 square foot outdoor event lawn and the Crystal River Rapids.  The Crystal River Rapids is a high-tech mast moving “lazy river” which is an addition to the existing Cypress Springs Water Park.
