Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando

Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando is one of the newest additions to the park. Officially opened in 2019 in the area formerly known as Shamu’s Happy Harbour, this exciting new land brings the popular children’s television show to life.

There are interactive play attractions throughout the land as well as a number of meet-and-greet photo opportunities.  You will find some of your favorite Sesame Street characters here like Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Big Bird and Cookie Monster.  And some of these characters have their own personally themed rides.

You should be aware that this area of the park is not available at park opening.  Typically the hours for the “Seas” in and around Sesame Street Land opens at 10:00 AM on most days.  So if you are coming to SeaWorld Orlando just for Sesame Street Land, plan your day accordingly.

Sesame Street Land Rides and Attractions

Super Grover’s Box Car Derby

Super Grover’s Box Car Derby is the marquee ride at Sesame Street Land.  This family friendly roller coaster is the perfect start for those that have never ridden a coaster before.  There are climbs and a few mini-drops but the Box Car Derby is a very fun and easy coaster.  There is a 38-inch height requirement for this ride and guests between 38 and 41-inches must ride with a supervising companion.

Big Bird’s Twirl ‘N’ Whirl

Your kids have their own birds nest which they can spin and twirl (like a tea cups type of ride) as fast as the want.  There is a 36-inch height requirement to ride alone or guest must ride with a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Cookie Drop!

Cookie Drop! is a short rise and drop ride where you bounce up and down. There is a 42-inch height requirement to ride alone or guest must ride with a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Elmo’s Choo Choo Train

Take a ride with Elmo on his choo choo train.  There is a 36-inch height requirement to ride alone or guest must ride with a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Rubber Duckie Water Works

Rubber Duckie Water Works is a children’s themed water splash pad playground area (and actually we found a number of adults here as well).  From fountains and jets to cannons and more, this is perfect for a hot summer day.

Sunny Day Carousel

This classic ride is perfect for those who enjoy a merry-go-round.  Riders under 42-inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Slimey’s Slider

Slimey is Oscar the Grouch’s pet worm.  You board Slimey and rock back and forth as well as spin round and round for a fun ride.  There is a 42-inch height requirement to ride alone or guest must ride with a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Storytime with Big Bird

Your kids will love Storytime with Big Bird.   Meet Big Bird next to the 123 Building and listen to his story.  Afterwards climb into his next for a meet-and-greet.

Abby’s Flower Tower

Climb high with Abby as you spin around in colorful pots while enjoying great views of Sesame Street Lane.  There is a 42-inch height requirement to ride alone or guest must ride with a supervising companion at least 14 years of age.

Sesame Street Land Shopping and Dining

Eats on the Street

Instead of a large physical building to house a Sesame Street restaurant, SeaWorld developed smaller venues including food trucks to go along with a specialty drink stand for this area.  These quick service dining venues include:

  • ABC Easts
  • Sesame Sips
  • Yummy Yummy Nom Noms

Hooper’s Store

This amazing gift shop has just about everything Sesame Street that you can image.  From stuffed animals to apparel and souvenirs, Hooper’s Store has it all.  One thing you need to check out is Elmo’s Interactive Light-Up Bubble Wand.  Similar to what Universal’s has done with the interactive Harry Potter themed wands, you can use this bubble wand to “unlock hidden surprises, special effects and exclusive content throughout the street”.

What is the best SeaWorld Orlando area hotel for kids?

In our opinion it is just not a contest. The Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld is right across the street from the park and is an “Official SeaWorld Hotel”  Official hotels offer benefits which include:

  • Complimentary transportation to SeaWorld and Aquatica
  • Priority Entry (select dates)
  • Shopping and dining discounts.

There are two main reasons why we feel The Renaissance is the best hotel for kids.  The first is the amazing kids splash park which has two separate sections – one for little ones and another for tweens and teens.  There are several water slides and water play areas.

The second reason is that there are a number of large areas for kids to play including an event lawn outside behind the pool as well as a very large lobby area.

Check out our video review of the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld below.
