Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World)

The Liberty Tree Tavern is one of our favorite table-service restaurants within the Magic Kingdom at The Walt Disney World Resort.  Located in the Liberty Square section of the park near the Hall of Presidents, this dining venue brings guests back to the days of early American life in a well themed colonial-style tavern.

This all-you-can-eat restaurant offers a variety of traditional Colonial American cuisine that is served family style. Our server indicated it as a “Thanksgiving” meal which included turkey, pot roast and oven-roasted pork accompanied by a number of traditional American side dies.   There is also a variety of beers, hard ciders and specialty cocktails along with fountain drinks, coffee, tea and milk.

Themed after the Revolutionary War era, the Liberty Tree Tavern features six dining areas named after a significant figure in early American history.

The 10 Best Restaurants at the Magic Kingdom

About the Liberty Tree Tavern

Often overlooked by some of the character dining experiences at the Magic Kingdom, the Liberty Tree Tavern offers an excellent all-you-can-eat meal for a fair price (based on theme park standards).

The theming of this restaurant is part of the dining experience. Before proceeding to one of six individual dining areas, guests are welcomed in a large reception area that’s highlighted with massive chandeliers and an extensive fireplace.

Hours of operating are typically 11:00 AM to 2:55 PM for lunch and from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM for dinner service.

The restaurant is divided into six rooms, each named after a famous figure from American history with the decor in each room reflecting the theme of the room’s namesake, with colonial-style furnishings and artifacts.  These rooms as as follows:

  • Benjamin Franklin
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • John Paul Jones
  • Paul Revere
  • Betsy Ross
  • George Washington

Either before or after your meal, make sure you get take the time to walk around the dining area to see all the historic details of each person.

It appears that the Disney Imagineers took a considerable amount of time to design each room.  From the lighting to the wall paneling, the theming takes guests back in time to the Colonial era.

Reasons to Eat Here

While we can find a number of reasons to eat at the Liberty Tree Tavern, here are our top three.

  • Atmosphere: The Liberty Tree Tavern is designed to look and feel like a colonial American inn, complete with rustic decor, wooden beams, and historic artifacts. This immersive atmosphere can transport guests back in time and make for a unique dining experience.

  • Family-Style Dining: The Liberty Tree Tavern serves its meals family-style, meaning that large platters of food are brought to the table for everyone to share and guests can request additional servings of their favorite dishes. This can be a great value for those with hearty appetites and can be a fun and interactive way to dine with family and friends.
  • Traditional American Cuisine: The menu at the Liberty Tree Tavern features classic American dishes like roast turkey, pot roast, and pork loin, along with sides like mashed potatoes, stuffing, and mac and cheese. This can be a comforting and familiar meal for those looking for a taste of home.

Our Thoughts

Our most recent meal in July 2023 was for an early lunch in the Benjamin Franklin dining room.  Including the annual pass discount and tax, the total the cost was $37.38 which is a very good value for an all-you-can-eat theme park dining experience.

All three courses were excellent and what you would expect at most Walt Disney World restaurants.  Service was also top notch and the service team was on top of our meal every step of the way.

We will, without a doubt, return to the Liberty Tree Tavern again soon.

Reservations

Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and are highly recommended due to the restaurant’s popularity. Guests can make reservations online through the Walt Disney World Resort website or on the MyDisney Experience app.  While a walk-up option is offered, it is highly unlikely that there will be availability.

Additionally, the Liberty Tree Tavern is available for one table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.
